Abstract
Allergic bronchopulmonary aspergillosis (ABPA) is an inflammatory lung disease occurring in patients with asthma, which results from hypersensitivity reaction to Aspergillus spp. in the airways. The prevalence of ABPA is approximately 1 to 2% in patients with asthma. Prompt detection and treatment of ABPA is important, in order to reduce the risk of respiratory exacerbations and fibrosis. We report herein on a typical case of a patient who presented with a clinical profile suggestive of asthma and meeting the clinical, laboratory testing, and radiological criteria for a diagnosis of ABPA (stage III).
